Coming from the west, the castle ruins of Frauenburg immediately catch the eye in the Murtal region. The castle towers over the valley and in the evening it is beautifully illuminated, indicating the start of the Murtal region.
The Frauenburg can look back on a varied history, as the minnesinger Ulrich von Liechtenstein had the castle built in the 13th century.
Even if the expansion of the expressway should take you past quickly, it is definitely worth taking a break in Unzmarkt-Frauenburg. You can stop and spend the night here and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The Murtalbahn is ideal for a very special excursion. The narrow-gauge railway connects the Murtal with Murau and Salzburg. The 76 km long railway line is not only popular with railway enthusiasts. Steam is also used on the route several times a year and then it's called "Kleines Dampfen Unzmarkt".
The Mur not only accompanies this Styrian railway line, but also the Murradweg leads through the dreamlike Mur-Auen. Therefore, Unzmarkt is also a popular stop along the river bike path.
The leisure park with its playground and a family-friendly bathing pond are ideal for relaxing hours.
