In the exhibition you will find the fascinating world of railways in 16 themed rooms with a total of approx. 1,000 m² of exhibition space. You will learn nostalgically everything about the beginnings of the railway in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, see how varied the work process on the railway is and discover modern vehicle design and its development. Please refer to the presentation of the individual exhibition rooms for the focal points of the respective "theme room". The vehicle exhibition on the adjoining ÖBB open-air site is impressive. First admire the big ones and then experience the little ones. A visit to the model railway in Knittelfeld is a special experience. Here, with a love of detail and lovingly designed, you will be enchanted by a small railway world. Approx. 700 meters of tracks were installed on an area of 120 m². 5 stations with standard gauge and 4 stations with narrow gauge are on display. A railway operation that is true to the original is presented here in small format. Of course, this small world should be presented in the best possible way on the selected exhibition days. Therefore, a separate timetable was developed, which lasts over 1.5 hours. Nostalgic trains and vehicles from the present time alternate here. From the steam locomotive to the Railjet, you can marvel at all eras here. 80 trains ensure that there is always something moving along the route. Boredom is a foreign word here. In addition to trains, buses, tractors and other vehicles also make their rounds on the layout. Please note that the model railway is only open on certain days. Please see the website for opening times.
