Fine, but not out of the ordinary, is how the gourmet restaurants in the Murtal present themselves.

Hardly any rural region in Austria has a comparable selection of toque restaurants. This is probably due to the excellent establishments and the high-quality products from the region that are processed here. Alexander Stöhr from Schloss Farrach, for example, has his own herb garden and swears that every part should be processed from the animal. With the right skills, even "less noble" pieces become a real treat. Join us in discovering the dreamlike gourmet castles that have not only taken the fancy of the "Gault & Millau" evaluators - but will also delight you.

The great thing is that gourmet cuisine in the Murtal has remained affordable and is therefore also enjoyed by the locals on special occasions.

Once again this year, 4 restaurants in the heart of Styria have made it into the "Gault & Millau" toque category.

  • The Schlosstaverne Farrach in Zeltweg achieved 3 toques - 16.5 points. Alexander Stöhr and his team stand for quality and regionality. Even while the restaurants are closed, gourmets do not have to do without regional delicacies. The business also offers its dishes for pick-up and delivery.
  • The restaurant Steirerschlössl in Zeltweg also achieved 3 toques - 16.5 points. The house, which is one of Dietrich Mateschitz's businesses, combines young, modern cuisine with timeless art nouveau.
  • The Schloss Gabelhofen in Fohnsdorf also achieved 3 toques - 15.5 points. The creations of the castle kitchen - under the direction of Klaus Kobald - are young and imaginative, always fresh and full of flavour. It is varied, excellent and preferably uses seasonal ingredients.
  • 1 toque restaurant - 12 points achieved the Hofwirt in Seckau. Here, the menu ranges from traditional Styrian delicacies to innovative palate ticklers. The attention to detail is reflected in the selection of ingredients, which are of excellent quality.
