A tour for the whole family with easy climbs

A somewhat longer but not too demanding tour through "half" of the Murtal. If the whole tour is too long for you, you can shorten it via Allerheiligen. So there is something for everyone.

Travelling from:

VIENNA (approx. 2 hours)Take the A2 motorway to the Seebenstein junction, direction S6 Semmering. Follow the Murtalschnellstraße S36 until exit Judenburg Ost. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

LINZ (approx. 2 hours)Take the A1 motorway in the direction of Salzburg. In Sattledt change to the A9 motorway towards Graz as far as the St. Michael i.O. junction. Continue on the Murtalschnellstraße S36 towards Klagenfurt until the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

SALZBURG (approx. 2 hours)At Salzburg Nord take the A1 towards Linz Wien, at the Voralpenkreuz junction take the A9 towards Graz as far as the St. Michael i.O. junction. Continue on the Murtalschnellstraße S36 to the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

KLAGENFURT (approx. 1 hour)Klagenfurt Ost onto the A2 motorway towards Graz Wolfsberg. Take the Bad St. Leonhard exit onto the Obdacher Bundesstraße B78 in the direction of Zeltweg. Take the Zeltweg bypass onto the S36, direction Klagenfurt, after approx. 2.5 km take the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.MURAU (approx. 1/2 hour)Follow the Murtal Bundesstraße B96 in the direction of Scheifling. Turn left onto the Friesacher Bundesstraße B317 towards Judenburg. Follow the Murtal motorway S36 to the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

This leisurely cycle tour starts at the main square. It heads west along the main road past Kumpitz and Allerheiligen to Pöls. Here you cycle through the town center past the paper factory to the Judenburg/Hohentauern junction. After a short stretch to the left along the main road, turn right towards St. Georgen/Märchenwald. After a rapid descent along the asphalt road, turn left onto the Mur cycle path (R2). Now it's a leisurely ride on the R2 along the Mur to Strettweg. The route leads through the Arena am Waldfeld shopping center to Aichdorf. At Landhaus Wilhelmer, you leave the main road in the direction of Rattenberg. Now it's straight back to Fohnsdorf to the starting point.

Shorter variant:

In Allerheiligen you can take a shortcut to the left towards Gasselsdorf, Ritzersdorf and Waltersdorf to Strettweg. From Strettweg, the route follows the signposted family tour again.

No time limit and free parking at the stadium in Fohnsdorf. The parking lot (in the country road at the eastern end of the town in the direction of Rattenberg) is only a 5-minute walk from the main square.
