Experience the the hard life of a miner up close and personal in the 47m shaft tower, the 3550hp tandemhoist machine and in 160 metres of underground exhibition brown coal mines. Numerous mining exhibits, mining models, pictures, minerals, fossils, and even a realblack lung provide an unforgettable experience. The times flies by with exciting, entertaining stories. On 22 May 2016 there is a large mineral fair. We also offer steam train enthusiasts the oldest fireless locomotive in the world (built in 1889) and the 3.2km history and nature trail.

The Magic of the Nockalmstraße

  Inviting, leisurely and intoxicating beautiful: The Nockalmstrasse, which is over 35 km, is something completely different from many other scenic panoramic trails. Instead of jagged rocks it has gentle green pastures, pink Alpenrose and larch forests, rustic Alpine huts and leisurely walks. In the home of the Alpine valerian, visitors can expect invitingly beautiful themed trails and hiking circuits that offer a great chance to recharge their batteries. Two such examples are the 1.5-km ”Weg der Elemente“ (”Element Trail“) with stone circles and energy exercises, and the ”Silva Magica“, which encourages encounters with nature. The new Biosphärenparkzentrum Nockalmhof, a biosphere reserve, and the ”Islands in the Stream of Time“ multimedia show offer intense engagement with nature.  

Model Railway Knittelfeld

  The Modelleisenbahn (Model Railway) offers 5 stations on an area of 160 m2, with a track length of around 700 m. Original presentation of a railway. The system also includes a narrow-gauge track and monitors 220 points, 280 signals and 500 train detection sections.

Doll Museum

  Handmade dolls by Klagenfurt artist Helga Riedel. Loving representations of the life, traditions and customs of the inhabitants of Hüttenberg. The Hüttenberger “Reiftanz“, a miners‘ festival that takes place only every three years, has been reconstructed in the Puppenmusem (Doll Museum).  


  KNAPPENBERG VIEWING MINE Explore the dark and mystical world of ore mining at the Schaubergwerk (Viewing Mine). Learn more about the hard work of the miners and their working methods underground in the natural viewing shafts. Hüttenberg has the third largest mineral deposits in the world! Admire over 200 colourful minerals.  

Heinrich Harrer Museum

  Around the world in 5000 exhibits with the adventurer, mountaineer, explorer and writer Heinrich Harrer. Experience “Seven Years in Tibet“ up close. The Lingkor circuit takes you up 500 steps and offers insights into Tibetan traditions and culture.  


  Fairytale forest nature park The ”Fairy Tale Puzzle Circuit“ - a dream location for fantastic days out. Puzzling fun for the whole family: The beautifully designed scenes from a variety of fairy tales have been mixed up. Take a good look! There are many deliberate mistakes at the fairytale stations - can you find them?  Get to know many different trees and shrubs on the nature trail. At the end of the circuit there is a large water playground, the subsequent Viking memory game and the extensive children‘s play area ensure fun and games! Treat yourself to hearty fare at our restaurant. Hot food, cakes, ice cream and snacks all day long.  


  Family fun for the whole family (min. age: 6): paddle downstream on a 10- or 12-man, see the beautiful wetlands, rare water birds and enjoy the cool water. Other activities: Fishing on a high mountain lake, goldpanning and guided mountainbiking/hiking tours.  


  KRAMPL GEMSTONES, WEISSKIRCHEN The world of precious stones. At Edelsteine Krampl, we turn predominantly Styrian stones into unique workpieces and jewellery. With a glass factory, jewellery studio, jewellery workshop, stone sculpting workshop and a glittering world of crystals, we are a popular excursion destination for families and tour groups..  

Puchmuseum Judenburg

  Puchmuseum Judenburg In the heart of the historic town of Judenburg, directly opposite the convention centre, the Puch Museum Judenburg invites the whole family to experience the milestones of vehicle development first hand. Legendary bicycles, motorcycles and cars are vividly presented and awaken memories of the worldwide success of the ”Puch“ brand, which made a significant contribution to getting the Austrian population on the road. Here you can find such highlights as the Puch 500, which is affectionately known among connoisseurs as the ”Pucherl“, Haflinger and Pinzgauer as well as pre-war motorcycles and old military vehicles. The special exhibition for 2015 is ”Steyr 100“! Event highlights 2015: Biker Expo: 18 - 19 April; Puch Parade: 15 August; 3 October: ”Jazz in the Museum“ during the ”Lange Nacht der Museen“ (Long Night of the Museums).  


  KNITTELFELD RAILWAY MUSEUM Eisenbahnmuseum Knittelfeld (Knittelfeld Railway Museum) is directly on the River Mur Cycling Trail. 16 themed rooms over approx. 1,000 m² entice you into the fascinating world of railways. Outdoor model railway open: 1 May - 30 September. Special exhibition: On the Trail of the Great Knittelfelders - “The International 3-Day Hike”. International ”Andampfen“ Festival: 5 - 8 May 2016.

  Kreischberg cable car operating hours - summer In summer the World Championships mountain is a beautiful hiking region for the whole family! The cable car takes you from the valley up to 1,800 metres above sea level in comfort. There is a choice of a leisurely walk across flat meadows and through pine forests or a gentle ascent increase to one of the nearby peaks.  


  ST. RUPRECHT WOOD MUSEUM The Holzmuseum (Wood Museum) tells you everything you want to know about wood. It is an all-weather destination for the whole family. You can easily spend all day in the 10,000 m2 museum. We offer a comprehensive range of activities, from museum tours to social activities such as bowling, crafts, painting, stilt-walking, tree rallies, creative workshops and banging in nails. The arboretum, which features more than 70 different species of tree, offers visitors relaxation and information. Other activities: wood & ST.   Mythos Edelsteine Kranzelbinder 300 m from the “Nocky Flitzer“ you can experience Austria‘s largest collection of gemstones and jewellery at Mythos Edelstein Kranzelbinder (Kranzlbinder World of Gemstones). Whether you are visiting the exhibition, admiring giant, metre-long crystals, creating your own pieces of jewellery or even cracking open a gemstone, you will be left with a lasting impression. The foundations for the museum were laid in the early 60s and it is now a unique Austrian excursion destination for young and old. Guided tours every Tuesday (Summer: 4:00pm; Winter: 4:30pm) and by prior appointment for groups (min. 8 persons) Children‘s attractions 2016: Find gemstones in the mine, minerals flea market, gold-panning only in July and August (weather permitting).  


  WOOD & IRON" MINING MUSEUM, TURRACH Turrach is located at 1,300 metres above sea level and owes its existence and once international fame to the mining and iron production that existed there until the late 19th century. Visit the museum to experience Turrach's history on a fascinating tour.  


  Lachtal CABLE CAR OPERATING HOURS The Lachtal inspires summer visitors with its high altitude and extensive hiking areas. You can reach 2,000 metres above sea level in the Lachtal 6-seater chairlift. The mountain station is the ideal starting point for beautiful hikes - whether it is a hut tour or ridge hike with stunning panoramic views.  


  KÖTZLMÜHLE MILL & FLAX-BREAKING HOUSE Take a journey into the past and visit the Kötzlmühle mill in Feistritz and the Brechelhütte (flax-breaking house) in Althofen. The Kötzlmühle and its three mill wheels was first mentioned in 1305. The waters of the Fluder and an oak trough invite you to try Kneipp therapy! In autumn the flax was dried and broken in the Brechelhütte to get the flax fibres.  


  OBERWÖLZ LEISURE CENTRE The heated outdoor pool, which features a waterslide, diving board, children‘s pool, beach volleyball court and outdoor chess, offers an experience for the whole family. The swimming pool restaurant offers culinary delights. Opposite the pool you can find a high wire park, tennis courts and a concrete area for playing, skating and Austrian curling.  


  OBERWÖLZ MUSEUM OF BRASS INSTRUMENTS & RURAL LIFE The Blasmusik- und Heimatsmuseum presents the history of brass band music from the 19th century to the present with a variety of musical instruments, costumes and uniforms from Austria‘s most beautiful regions. It also gives an impression of the life and work of previous generations. The museum meet is a highlight for both young and old.  


  SCHOOL OF THE SENSES, NEUMARKT In two separate areas, we show you historic Neumarkt and the Austrian coffee culture in the legendary Häferlmuseum. In the experiential world of the ”Schule der Sinne“ (School of the Senses) you can learn a lot about bionics and life itself. Give in to your senses - you‘ll be amazed!  


  AUDIO TOUR OF MURAU Experience the medieval town of Murau (the district capital) on an audio tour. The guide provides an in-depth explanation of the fascinating history of Murau, Anna Neumann and wood. Tours are available in English, German, Hungarian and Italian. Audio guides are available from the Murau Tourist Information Centre.  

Sternenturm Judenburg

  The 500-year-old Sternenturm Judenburg Planetarium offers spectacular space shows, ”all-encompassing“ flights through the universe of knowledge and impressive music shows, whatever the weather! The ingenious 3D space action will amaze, entertain and educate. The exhibition is suitable for children ages 4 and up (with the exception of oneshow) and an overview of the current sky is always included. The planetarium is in Austria’s highest free-standing town tower and features a spectacular glass-bottomed lift, a Panorama Café at a height of 42m and a unique view overthe Murtal region. Additional offer in July and August, every Friday at 1:30pm: “Judenburg Tower Show” followed by a guided tour.  

Rachau Tree-Top Trail

  Rachau Tree-Top Trail From April to October, the gates of the tree-top trail are open to nature lovers, the young and the young at heart. Whether you prefer a fast pace or a comfortable stroll, the trail offers a unique experience - an adventure through the treetops. Stairs, platforms, walkways and a 4 m cantilevered viewing platform overlooking the depths are the highlights of the adventure trail. Even the path to the construction offers sunny spots to rest and stations with balance exercises, games of skill and a fun-filled walk. Guided tours are available upon request and will teach you interesting things about the forest, its inhabitants, the construction of the tree-top trail and the flora and fauna of the region.  


  JUDENBURG MUSEUM On three floors, numerous exhibits, including a coin and art collection, document the history of Judenburg. Its prehistoric importance is illustrated by the Hallstatt finds at Falkenberg in Strettweg: you can see a replica of the famous Cult Wagon Strettweg and and the most recent excavations.  


  3 LAKE CIRCUIT, TURRACHERHÖHE The 3 Lake Circuit on the Turracherhöhe presents a special opportunity to delve into the mountain landscape of the Nockberge. Breathe in nature, refresh your schoolboy biology or simply enjoy your own impressions of the region. Experience an easy-going 2 - 3 hour walk around the three lakes (the Turrachersee, Grünsee and Schwarzsee).  


  HOHER STEG BRIDGE PREDLITZ The renovation work on the Hoher Steg bridge means that an impressive natural monument is once again to the public. The gorge at the entrance to the Turrachtal valley is the result of meltwater erosion. You can see this impressive natural monument and bridge on a circular walk.    


  GEMSTONE GARDEN & MINERAL MUSEUM In the garden for body, mind and soul you will find stones of all four elements. In the mineral museum you will find minerals from the Alps and all over the world. Exhibition of petrified wood and a fluorescent cabinet. Certified minerals shop with advice from a trained healing stone consultant!  


  OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL ,ST. PETER AM KAMMERSBERG A small but perfect heated outdoor swimming pool in St. Peter am Kammersberg! The idyllic landscaped pool has a separate children's pool and a large sunbathing lawn. Ideal for a beautiful summer day with the whole family!  


  SCHEIFLING PIPE MUSEUM The Pfeifen- und Heimatmuseum can be found in a house first built in 1630 and features 550 interesting pipes from all over the world, including documentation of tobacco cultivation in the Scheifling area. Hammerherr Freisam (a symbolic figure of the 15th century) can be admired at the annual Scheiflinger Kirtag celebrations (1st Sunday in July)  


  KIDS' GUIDED TOUR OF OBERWÖLZ The historical journey leads through the small town Oberwölz. The medieval townscape with the city wall and 3 gates still remains today. Younger visitors can hear stories about the origins of the town, life and trade in the Wölzertal.  


  UNZMARKT-FRAUENBURG LEISURE PARK The Freizeitpark (leisure park) offers free bathing in a natural swimming pond with approximately 1000 m2 of water, a separate children's pool for the little ones, a rainbow slide and a wooden diving tower. A large children's playground with a giant octopus, swings and climbing frames guarantee fun.  


  Literary Path Unzmarkt-Frauenburg The Ulrich von Liechtenstein Pfad, which was opened in 2012, offers fans of literature information and variety in a relaxing atmosphere. The sculptures along the path through Unzmarkt-Frauenburg invite you on a personal exploration of the eternally relevant themes of medieval literature.  


  OBERZEIRING VIEWING MINE Once one of the most important silver mines in the Eastern Alps, you can now easily reach the heart of the mountain, where the miners once worked, via concrete steps. You will pass beautiful stalactites, narrow shafts, miners' ladders and fireplaces on your way out.  


  Family Nature Adventure Day "Breathe in the mountain" is the motto of this unique themed Erlebnisweg (Adventure Trail) through Zirbenland (Pine Land). It takes you on a gradual ascent over numerous wooden footbridges to experience an unspoilt mountain stream in its unique environment, stopping at the "place of peace" and the "energy bench".      


  ZIRBELIX KIDS' PARADISE JUDENBURG New in Judenburg! Zirbelix, the indoor playground in the town centre offers fun and games whatever the weather. The 660-m² toddlers' area includes a mountain hut, giant puzzle and adventure play area with a slide, volcano and roundabout. A cosy gastro-area invites you to while away the time.  


  JUDENBURG SPA EXPERIENCE Fun, sports and games in the spacious outdoor pool, which features a swim-training pool, a children‘s area, a swimming treadmill, jacuzzi benches and a 70m water slide.   ZELTWEG SPORTS CENTRE This sports centre in the centre of Aichfeld provides - not least because of its size (??126,600 m²) - a variety of leisure and sports activities for all ages. The attractive facility offers over 20 different (summer and winter) sports. The sports halls, spacious outdoor area and the generous parking facilities mean that it is also ideal as an event and exhibition centre. Recharge you batteries!   HERB NATURE TRAIL, GAAL Discover a beautifully landscaped Kräuterlehrpfad (herbal nature trail) in 14 boxes with 70 different spices and medicinal herbs. There is also a chance to try Kneipp therapy and refresh yourself in the mountain stream. You can choose to explore the trail on your own, but guided tours are also possible at any time by prior appointment.  


  Ingeringsee Gaal True to the motto "breathe in nature - and relax" you can find quiet time away from the stress of everyday life at this scenic mountain lake, which lies at around 1,200 metres above sea level. Visitors will discover a fantastic mountain panorama, which is reflected in the waters of the lake. Coach access, 5 minute walk from the coach park.  


  ALPINPARK STEINMÜHLE, GAAL Challenge yourself on a personal adventure! Our high wire park in this rocky natural landscape offers an abseiling wall, a Pamper pole, aerial traverses, a flying fox and much more. The Alpinpark is also ideal for climbing and via ferrata training. The necessary equipment is provided on site.  


  KNITTELFELD CRAZY GOLF COURSE In the beautiful municipal park in town of Knittelfeld is Styria's only tournament crazy golf course! The course consists of 18 concrete fairways, each 12 m long and 1.25 m wide. Guests can relax on the many benches. Crazy golf, fun for the whole family!  


  Alois-Penz-Museum More than 7000 exhibits separated thematically and spread over an exhibition area of almost 400 m2. Among these are around 4000 carnival orders from all over Europe, the USA, Africa, Canada and Brazil. Discover the carnival uniforms of guards, elves, prices and dukes. Suitable for children.

Edelrautehütte & Grosser Scheibelsee

  The Edelrautehütte (1,725 m) is accessible on foot or via the toll road; a well-marked path leads to the Grosser Scheibelsee lake (approx. 10 mins.). Lovingly designed walkways and bridges lead you around the lake and allow you to take in the magnificent mountain scenery. You can also climb the mountain (Grosser Bösenstein 2,448 m).  

From the Bergerhube to the Moaralm

  At the end of the Triebental is the Bergerhube. This rustic mountain hut is the ideal base to fortify yourself with local delicacies before a tour. Your journey to the Moaralm then continues on towards Grießmoargraben, where you can explore mysterious woods and crystal clear streams along the way.  

Kornockbahn Cable Car Turracher Höhe

  Discover the magnificent mountain scenery of the Turracher Höhe. Travel up to 2,200 metres in the 6-seater chairlift, where you will be amazed at the view. The Kornock is also a good starting point for many hikes in the Nockberge National Park. Experience the fascination of the Nockberge up close and personal.  


  OBERWÖLZ-LACHTAL HIGH WIRE PARK 10 courses for different levels of ability over a total length of 2,900 m. The minimum height is 1.30 m, children aged 14 or under may only climb if accompanied by an adult. Climbing equipment and training is available on site and is included in the entry price.

We‘re building a fourth castle

  Friesach, Carinthia’s oldest town, enchants visitors with its 3 castles, a 820m-long town wall and a town moat. We asked ourselves how people built such monumental structures. Now we have dared to start a historic experiment and are building a fourth castle in accordance with mediaeval methods and no modern technology.

  VW BEETLE MUSEUM GAAL VW-Käfermuseum (VW Beetle Museum) in Gaal, Styria (near the Red Bull Ring) presents the full spectrum of this cult vehicle with wonderful exhibits - from the beginnings of a legend to its renaissance. We have a play area with a Formula 1 simulator for big and little kids.

Hohentauern Cross-Country Skiing Centre

  Hohentauern Cross-Country Skiing Centre The extensive cross-country skiing trail network (13 km, classic and skating-style) impresses both beginners and pros. The trail network has been created based on sports doctors'advice and offers suitable trails for levels of ability. Perfect preparation is considered particularly important and the main trail has snow machine coverage.  

Tobogganing from the Edelrautehütte

  Tobogganing from the Edelrautehütte In Hohentauern, tobogganing can be individually tailored to your fitness level: you can either walk uphill or travel in comfort with the toboggan taxi. Delicious treats await at the Edelrautehütte, which is where you rent the toboggans. The toboggan run is a decent 5.5 km.

In St. Anna you have the chance to use a free single- and double-track cross-country skiing trail (4.5 km) at 1290 m above sea level. The trail is perfect for both beginners and advanced cross-country skiers.  

Rieseralm Toboggan Run

  Rieseralm Toboggan Run From the Almrauschhütte you can reach the Gasthof Rieseralm via the toboggan run. The 2-km toboggan run offers a diverse route with a few difficult parts where you can race. Fortification is available at the Almrauschhütte and the Rieseralm. A shuttle is available.

The Rieseralm offers 4 T-bar tows with natural snow slopes; snow machines stand at the ready to guarantee snow. A total of 12 kilometres of slopes are available - offering something for everyone. Skiers can show off their skills and have masses of fun on the Rieseralm’s many forest trails, mogul slopes, the steep Sterngasse slope and in the Funpark. The Gasthof Rieseralm provides fortification.
